Montemuzo In the Palace of Zaragoza, is currently an exhibition of drawings, entitled From the North, with works from funds Drawing Museum of July Gavín , Larrés Castle in Huesca, and is sponsored by the City Council and the Royal Academy of Nobles and Fine Arts of San Luis.
When visiting the exhibition I can not help remembering the friend Julio Gavín and meditating on the importance of drawing in art history. I met Gavin at some English TV programs in Aragon. In Sabiñánigo had the chance to talk at length, along with Teresa on Art and Design, was brewing at that time the important Museum in Castle Larrés people.
later received a colaborásemos letter from him to work with our drawing. Then I sent a color drawing mixed media, titled Goya, witches and war, belonging to a series on Fuendetodos painter who was exposed in Bassano del Chiesetta del'Angelo Grappa, Italy, in 1988. Some of these drawings remained in the Veneto. The drawing that belongs to the Museum of Larrés, has a theme often used by Goya, as covens and witchcraft, then update the war, horses, swords and guns, as Napoleon's armies, but change it for the deadly helicopter and the current air war.
In the summer of 1989, while on holiday in the village of Fact, which is native Teresa, accompanied by our sons Charles and Francis, along with Lorenza Bassanese Bertoncello, we moved to Larrés, which is about 6 km. Sabiñánigo, where this newly opened Castle-Museum, dating from the fourteenth century and expanded in the sixteenth century, and in the twentieth century was restored by the Friends Serrablo, directed by Gavin July. We arrived at Larrés, whose backdrop is the great mountains of the Pyrenees, and headed for the Museo-Castillo, meeting with the pleasant surprise that Julius was there, and we made a guide for their rooms and can see that my work was appreciated, as was exposed and not deposits. We took pictures at sunset with our children and Lorenza and spend some quality time together.
No doubt the Drawing is the foundation of painting and checked to visit the Museum and see its importance in Spain, since it is the first museum devoted to drawing in the country, reassuring to see displayed the works of my friends in Madrid, especially in the Círculo de Bellas Artes, in 1968 to 71, when we struggled to master the naked human form, we drew along with Alberto Duce, Antonio López, Cristóbal Toral, Andrés Barajas, Antonio Marcos,
Alcorlo, Vargas Ruiz, Monique de Roux, .... and now his works are protected by these medieval walls for the enjoyment of generations.
accompany and historical body to the collection, artists such as Ignacio Zuloaga, Daniel Vázquez Díaz, Juan José Garate, Benlliure, Luis Berdejo, Santiago and Pedro Ramón y Cajal, Javier Cirino, José Beulas, the surrealists Salvador Dalí and Wifredo Lam, Hernandez Mompó, José Caballero, Lagunas, Vera, Julio Gavin, Bayo, Saura, poster as Janus, illustrators The Quail as Mingione, caricaturists and cartoonists ... until a list of 784 3155 artists drawings. Undoubtedly, when you visit this museum puts one in contact with this discipline and can appreciate the infinite variety of shapes, styles and feelings that you can carry this artistic, that is able to reach a human being directly, without the constraint of the final work, where you can appreciate the sentiment and trembling artist's soul. Thanks to Gavin for his efforts in July and sensitivity.
